ABOUT THE CHERNOBYL DISASTER

Hand in Hand For Children of Chernobyl

The early morning explosion of Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on April 26, 1986 is still a grim fact for the people who live in contaminated regions of Belarus, Ukraine and Western Russia.

The small country of Belarus (just 10km north of the Chernobyl power plant) received over 70% of the radioactive fallout due to wind and weather patterns that day.

Our organization focuses on the most vulnerable portion of the Chernobyl Region's population--the children. An estimated 800,000 live in the affect areas.
